Twestival® (or Twitter Festival) uses social media for social good by connecting communities offline on a single day to highlight a great cause and have a fun event. Twestival is the largest global grassroots social media fundraising initiative to date. Since 2009, volunteers have raised close to $1.2 million for 137 nonprofits. All local events are organized 100% by volunteers and 100% of all ticket sales and donations go direct to projects.
The funds from this year's Dublin Twestival go towards sending Ireland's Athletes to this years Special Olympic Games in Greece.
Now in it's 3rd year - it's a simple premise, use the power of social media for social good.
Confirmed acts : Paddy Cullivan [The hardest working man in Showbiz] & Songs of Praise [Rock & Roll Karaoke]. Special Guests TBA.
Since 2009, over 200 cities have participated in and that has raised millions for charities and on the 24th of March, Dublin has its very own Twestival taking place in the Village Wexford Street from 8pm in order to raise funds to send Irish Athletes to this years Special Olympic Games!
This promises to be an absolutely stellar evening on which, anything can happen, and strangely enough, generally does... There will be fun, tweeting, Rock + Roll Karaoke from Songs of Praise, music, laughter, tweeting, raucousness and generally good craic (and some more tweeting). Paddy Cullivan, Clint Velure from The Camembert Quartet, Resident Satirist with the Leviathan Political Cabaret and Twitter Fanatic has been confirmed as the MC for the evening. Paddy will be doing some comedy, Political Satire and music on the night. Songs of Praise will provide the body of the night and we'll have some very special live acts also dropping in and doing a few numbers.
Also we have games and raffles, including spot prizes such as a fantastic two night stay at the luxurious Castle Leslie Estate Hotel!
You can make a great impact for sending Athletes to this years Special Olympic games in Greece, so get tweeting and make sure you get to the Dublin Twestival Thursday March 24th from 7pm in the Village Wexford Street!
